OK, so I got a new laptop and we want to use the old computer for networking files. How?
My whole family is into music, but the thing is that we have our entire music collection scattered on all of the computers. We’re working on putting them all on the old one (it has an 80 gb hard drive and windows xp, I just needed a laptop), but we want to be able to listen to music that’s on the computer through our home network. It would basically be like sharing a drive, but only part of it. I went to best buy to see what can be done and to get something else nonrelated to this and the guy there said it’s built into windows xp to be able to do that. I looked in the help and support section, but it’s not working on any of our computers. we have file and printer sharing enabled and the songs show up as files in windows explorer, but won’t play in any jukebox programs (Windows Media Player, etc.). Is there something that I’m doing wrong? Thanks in advance for the answers.
