What are some ways to unify a high school in terms of computer networking?
Sunday, September 10th, 2006I work in a high school (8-12th graders) and was wondering, in general, what are some ways to unify all computer users in the administration side and make the job functions easier for teachers, and staff members such as the principal.
I have a few ideas, e.g. installing a network drive to be accessed throughout all computers to share files amongst each other and have a server up and running for the lab workstations but I still have ways to go with the staff workstations where they are still unrestricted in many aspects and are not connected to a domain. I am wondering if it would be best to log everyone on a domain and work from there. The only reason why I am reluctant is the user’s reluctance to relinquish user privileges.
All in all, I just like to hear some ideas and opinions.
P.S. most computers operate mainly on XP, some 2000 but I am trying to phase out old OS’s. Server is running on 2003 Server Edition.
